LADYTRON with DATAROCK at the Palladium

Here is another heads up of an event you might want to make it out to see. LADYTRON is going to be playing with DATAROCK at the Palladium Ballroom on June 5th. I saw DATAROCK at South by Southwest last year, and I remember them putting on one hell of a show. Check out some of their videos.

There is going to be a Skate Jam on Saturday, May 24 hosted by The Party. Check out the fliers and the video below, which were posted on the Central Booking site.

I think the last time I put on a pair of roller skates was when I was like eight years old. Now it ain't gonna be pretty, but it's gonna be a whole lot of fun!

PPT Cd Release Party for Denglish at Tephejez

PPT is a local hip hop/funk/soul group that has been blowing up the Dallas scene for several years now. With the release of their new cd titled "Denglish," there will be plenty of opportunities to see what all the talk is about.

Here is a video of their cd release party at Tephejez with an interview with Tahiti from PPT, and several performances of tracks from the new cd. A big thank you to Tahiti for the interview!

The dates Tahiti mentions in the vid are for the month of April. I was a little late in getting this video up. Sorry.

This place is one of my favorites. There is always good live music and never any cover. A piano, a beautiful voice, and their specialty Sgt. Pepper Bloody Mary Martini are all that is needed for wonderfully relaxing night.

THE RUB mixtapes

If you want some good music to listen to while you study for finals or kill time at work, then here are some free mix tapes from The Rub. They have a bunch of History of Hip Hop volumes on their site, and some really old school stuff from as far back as 1979 free to download. Those 90s mixes are straight up nostalgic, but the 80s mixes are equally awesome. I hope you enjoy these as much as I have.

South by Southwest 08

When South by Southwest makes its way to Austin, it usually means one thing for the people in Dallas: ROAD TRIP! There are plenty of people, especially in Austin (damn dirty hipsters), who sound a little more ambivalent when talking about SXS. They will even tell you how disgusted they are with how commercial the festival has become. Although what they say may be true, with so much good music in one place it is hard to stay angry long.

If you are too broke to shell out the 100 plus dollars for wristbands to see some of the more popular acts, there are plenty of free shows in the area. Did i mention free alcohol? It may be Keystone, but it is free! A lot of parties are hosted by some magazine, alcohol company, new energy drink, or a combination of the three. All you have to do is go on-line and RSVP.

There was a whole bunch to see and not enough battery life on my camera, so this video is short and sweet.

Justice show at the Palladium Ballroom

Justice came through Dallas to the Palladium Ballroom back in March. If you were one of the unlucky ones and missed it, viewing this video will probably not make you feel any better. It was an awesome night. Unofficial after-party upstairs at The Loft. Everyone danced their ass off.

I hitched a ride with my friends in The Kul. Nobody wanted to be a designated driver, so instead of a cab we got a limo. Safety first people.

This night was The Party at The Lof t. Always a good time! Djs Nature, Select, and Sober host the events throughout Dallas, but you can catch them regularly at Zubar and The Loft. I got my drink on, my dance on, and interviewed Select.

Next events are Sat. March 8 at The Loft and Tues. March 11 at The Green Elephant. It's SPRING BREAK..... you have no excuse.

The Expo Park area is one of my favorite places to drink in Dallas. I decided to hang out at the Meridian Room. During the week it's a little slower (and cheaper) to get a drink, but you'll find the relatively small size and dim lights to provide a cozy and intimate place to hang out with friends or a date.

At Gezellig

First video is of Gezellig on Greenville Ave. The Dallas Observer said this place had the best cold beer in town, so i had to check it out. Found out that they chill the tubes that run from their kegs to the tap to keep the beer as cold as possible, which they were!

Again, this is the first video so don't judge too harshly. I learned that the more i drink the videos get progressively worse. I should probably set a 5 drink max. Also, bars are dark, so i should bring a flash light for the next time.... We're keeping this low-budget people. I promise the videos I put up here will suck less in the future.
